Bart lost his struggle with kidney failure and cancer at 1:30 a.m. this morning. He died peacefully at our bedside with my arm around him. I felt him draw his last breath, and could do nothing else for him but bury my face in his fur and give him one last final kiss.
Good Bye sweet Bartie…friend; loving companion; water dog; the World’s Most Beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog. I hope you find a good wading spot.

how special to have been able to be there for him. he would have been looking back and woofily smiling as he ran off healthy as can be to his next adventure, and i am sure you heard his thank you and will always feel his love

I’m sorry for your loss. That brought tears to my eyes. What a handsome dog. I am sure he was comforted by you being with him at the end of his time on this earth.

I’m so sad to hear about your loss, but it sounds like he parted this world in the best possible way, at your side. My heart goes out to you. Much energy and warmth headed in your direction.
