Greenwood Lake Air Show

IMG 3759

We gave in and went to the air show on Sunday after watching a half-show over our house on Saturday. (Have I mentioned before that we live very close to this small airport?) We gave in to the noise and decided to join the mob of people that also thought it was a good idea for a Sunday afternoon. I also thought it was a good place to practice some of my recently learned photography skills. (My camera hasn’t been on any auto modes for weeks!)

The show was enjoyed by young and old. I could not resist this little cutie’s face!

Too bad the day was not as nice as the day before. We only got a quick glimpse at a blue sky through all the low cloud cover.

I thought this photo was a funny juxtaposition with the commercial airliner on his descent in to Newark airpot in the background. Biplane to jet in one fell swoop!

More to come in the next couple of days! I sure hope you like aircraft and aerobatics!

Comments:

Any Blue Angels in the air show?  Probably not big enough for that. Glad there was a second show - the third picture of the planes in your ‘Saturday thoughts’ post looked like somebody was headed for a crash landing!

C, no it wasn’t that kind of air show. Mostly prop planes, older biplanes. I don’t think our little airport is really cleared for that much jet activity. Plus, it is ringed by hills and mountains and we’ve heard it’s hard to maneuver landing-wise. Only once in a while do little corporate jets land although we do have Homeland Security helicopters landing there quite often. Go figure.

Yeah, that plane was in a hammerhead dive. wink

You’ll see more, don’t worry!

Amazing photos of the planes - my maiden name is Greenwood - didn’t know there was a Greenwood Lake!  I have just had to log in to your site and had forgotten my password!

I’ve got some more photos of the planes but not sure if I will post them or not. Don’t want to bore anyone!

Greenwood Lake is close to our house and spans the border of New Jersey and New York. It would be the largest lake in New Jersey if we didn’t have to share it with New York. smile

If you ever forget your password and can’t remember it, email me and I’ll help you!

We were hiking on the AT that day and I have some photos of smoke trails above the lake and mountains.

Janelle, I bet you had a good view! I was thinking that being out on Greenwood Lake in a boat would have been a good vantage point too.
