Mailboxes

On my walk down the road the other day, the mailboxes caught my eye. First, my own mailbox after digging it out. You can see how far back we had to dig—I was standing in the road and our box is set back that far from the road. Where you see the snow end on the right side of the pillar is how far back it was buried.  The light on top of the pillar is barely visible.

This is how the other mailboxes on the street fared.

Just wondering Lynne, do you still want more snow? hehehe.  Pretty photos - but lots of work.  When it melts you are going to have lots of water to play in.  Have a great Monday!

Ugh- I sure don’t miss having to dig out the mailbox- That was my job after it snowed- looks like your neighbors have a lot more digging to do- before they get nice little postcards in the mail telling them they won’t get their mail till the boxes are cleared out.  I hated those notices!
You did a good job on yours though! I bet your mailperson is happy about that!

Debra, this much snow is not as fun as I remember! I got my wish, so now it can move onward towards spring! What a mess we are going to have when it does melt.

Jessica, I would do just about anything for our mailperson. Dennis is a great guy and whenever I have a package he always drives down to the front door and leaves all the mail. I think he can still drive right up to most of those mailboxes, except for the last one. They had more work to do!

Hey Lynne, still lurking!  Love, love, love your snow pictures.  Also love the fact that we do not get snow like that here in KY.  Out of curiosity, which mailbox is Kim and Mark’s???  Just wondering which box my letters wind up in!

Keep up the blogging and excellent pictures.  A real treat!

Hey there Lori! Nice to hear from you again. None of the mailboxes belong to Kim and Mark but the the bear in the previous set of photos is and it stands very near their mailbox!

Well, those scenes look quite familiar, though here in DC the snow is almost all gone. Remnants of the berms on the sides of the roads are still there, all crusty and dirty.

So glad you finally got your big snowstorm. Winter isn’t winter without it!

I was feeling just a smidge wistful that we haven’t gotten a single flake this year (I know, I know!) but I’ve totally changed my mind now.  smile

When we snowed in for a week last year, they didn’t even bother with the mail…we were just hoping to be able to get down the road somehow!

Ha! My word is whether which is almost like weather.  It’s the little things that crack me up!

Looks like you got the storm of the winter!  Very pretty, but I hear you about the work of clearing snow.  I am glad that none of the mailboxes became a victim of the plow! Although, these days, not getting any mail, does not mean that folks can’t keep in touch!
