Rodeo Drive and Venice Beach

I did not find Rodeo Drive very impressive. Not quite sure what I expected, but it was much lower key than what I had envisioned. Granted, we walked down it just before the shops opened, but still. Take a look for yourself.

I did not take my 35mm camera with me as Rick had his. I took my little “pocket” camera (Canon PowerShot SD800IS) and I wasn’t particularly happy with the photos, but c’est la vie!

A couple of storefront windows. I caught our reflections in the second one! (And now I see myself in the first one too! hah!)

Had to get in a sign that said Beverly Hills.

Venice Beach was, shall we say, a bit more interesting. I loved this film noir mural on the side of a building in a parking lot.

The boardwalk and the beach.

The boardwalk offered up a little something for everyone. These are a few of the things that caught my eye as we strolled along.

Anyone want to make a wish and become “Big?” I wasn’t brave enough. I’ll leave that to Tom Hanks.

Like I said: a little something for everyone!

And just in case you qualify for that prescription:

And this lends a whole new meaning to the term “fanny pack.” Need I say more?

As you can see, it was a strange place. Now I know where all the hippies from that era went. They are all still there. All of them still stoned out of their minds.

Comments:

Ahh, the pictures of Venice Beach did not disappoint!  I can’t believe there’s absolutely no traffic and no parked cars in that first shot of Rodeo Drive.  Looks like the place is deserted.  Thanks for the tour.

Venice Beach does look very colourful!  What an interesting place tho - I love people watching and I don’t think this place would disappoint.  Loved Rodeo Drive tho it looked very clean and the shops…

You were right…something for everyone!  I’ve never been to the west coast but it’s got to be on my ‘list.’  And botox on the beach…that’s to much!

Joyce, yes it’s certainly “colorful!” Plenty of people watching for sure. Rodeo Drive was very upscale and classy but a walk along 5th Avenue in NYC is better! wink

Helene, hehe. wink

What a cool trip…a fairy tale weekend for sure.  I would have been looking over my shoulder for Julia Roberts & Richard Gere…LOL
The photos of you and Rick were amazing! Glad it all went well.

Yes, it was kind of “Pretty Woman”-ish Debra! Thanks, glad you liked our sophisticated selves! wink
