Anyone know anything about mushrooms?

We get lots of different kinds of mushrooms growing in the forested area of our land at Sand Creek Park. Here is a link to a photo gallery of some of them:

We’d love to figure out if any of these are edible. Anyone know of someone who is a mycologist?

Here are a couple of other interesting “mushroom” related links:

  1. I added “Mushrooms Demystified” to my growing collection of books.

I’m pretty sure now on the ID of a couple of the mushrooms pictured on the “photo gallery” web site referenced in the original post.

By the way, I have more photos of each of these mushrooms that I may post. I took several of them and “dissected” them at the cabin noting their internal structure, any discoloration from bruising, etc. And, I took photos of the caps, gills, stems, interior, etc. Let me know if you want to see these additional photos of any of the mushrooms featured in the photo gallery.

  2. Over the weekend of the 20th and 21st of September there were very few mushrooms left. Those that were visible were old and decaying. Looks like prime mushrooming season is right around Labor Day.

  3. Here is a link to more discussion about mushrooms on the SCP Forum site:

    Mushroom Thread

There are two mushroom discussions going on and I think it is a good idea to cross link them.
