Yesterday We Took Something Very Precious from a 95 Year Old Woman, It’s All about Whiskey

Over the past few weeks, Lynne and I have been helping a friend of a friend as well as the local Bernese Mountain Dog club deal with a “rescue dog” situation.

A 95-year-old woman has to move from the house she has been in since 1954 to a place that won’t allow her 7-year-old intact Bernese Mountain Dog named Whiskey. The dog is the love-of-her-life. It has never left her side, sleeps next to her, barks at strangers who approach the house, and provides constant companionship.

Since she can’t take the dog with her, we were contacted to try to help find a home. We visited the woman and found the dog to be very sweet, well behaved, in good health, and very adoptable. So, we worked with the local dog club’s rescue person to find a home—which we think we have.

Still, we had to go pick the dog up. And, it was very sad. The poor lady really did not want to give up her Whiskey. There were tears, of course. But, we did get the dog into the truck and successfully delivered to a temporary home.

There is a lot more to the story, and I know that Lynne will likely blog about it with much more detail soon.
