It’s Raining Frogs

IMG 0777

I swear, every time it rains, it rains frogs. I can't figure where else they are all coming from if not the sky right along with the rain. We've gotten a lot of rain over the past two days and this morning we pulled back the solar cover on the pool to reveal more frogs. Eleven, in fact.

We decided to do as Carolyn suggested and put them in a bucket. Rick is the official frog-fisher-outer since they tend to gather in the bottom of the deep end. It's a good thing our net has a nice extension pole on it.

Bella was intrigued by the whole thing.

She kept sticking her head in the bucket. Before I knew it, she had grabbed one in her mouth and spit it out on the deck. He seemed to be okay and I just picked him up and put him back in the bucket with his buddies. I don't know if it was the movement that intrigued her or she just likes frogs. It was hard to keep her head out the bucket and I kept a close eye on her to make sure she didn't try to eat another one.

One got away as I was trying to extricate it from the net and hopped off. He'll probably be back tomorrow. Or the next time it rains.

Rick took the bucket-o-froggies and walked their little green butts down to the creek and dumped them in. If the same thing happens the next time it rains you are not going to convince me that they aren't coming from the sky.

Bella Meets the Ocean

hi everybody! mom finally is gonna let me show you how much i enjoyed meeting the ocean. you already know that i loves my water, but this was so cool! i could see the water from the yard of the place we were staying (and why we went there i am not really sure because it wasn't like the motels we stay in when we go to the cabin) and i was really excited to find out more about all that water. i could barely contain myself.

we finally went out on the what they called the "beach" and andy did the honors of letting me off my leash. (and by the way, andy is a really cool guy and i liked him a lot.)

the waves didn't bother me one bit but they were kinda funny …

i had a big smile on my face!

hailey and alex couldn't figure out why i was in there.

IMG 9339

we tried to drink it like we do the lake water but it tasted yucky.

IMG 9347

hailey got her feet wet but alex wouldn't go near it and i thought he was a weenie.

daddy took a video of me and you can watch me in action right here:

Bella’s Day

hi everyone! it’s me, bella! i just wanted to share the day i had the other day with you.

i wented wading in the beaver pond. it’s my most favorite thing to do up here. the pond has lots more water in it than the last time i was here.

i don’t swim but i get really wet.

somehow i got a gash above my eye. i guess a branch got me when i was running through the woods. mommy said it wasn’t bad, just a surface scratch but i don’t have any hair there now. it does not bother me at all.

there is a great mud puddle on the walk and before mom and dad could stop me i laided down in it. such fun! here is what i looked like after the mud puddle.

then i wented and played on the little bit of snow that is still around and that helped get me un-muddied.

after dinner we wented for a ride. here are alex and hailey enjoying it but you won’t see me with my head out the window cuz i don’t like it.

daddy tooked some slow-motion movies of me too. you can see them by following this link and this link and one last link here. mom and dad think they are funny but i don’t get the humor of it all. it’s just me being me after all.

p.s. daddy said to tell you that what you see in the movies is really one second of real time but the movies last about 40 seconds each.

Bella gets a phone (or not)

wow! i heard mommy and daddy talking this weekend about how they should get a ‘berner’ phone for the cabin. my own phone! (since i am a bernese mountain dog better known as berners.) i’ve always wanted my own phone so i could call up and bark at my friends. right now i can only bark across the street to finn and molly.

IMG 8481

i could even call that stupid dog tucker at the end of the street if i had my own phone. i think tucker has a crush on me.

i know mommy gets tired of my barking so i’m sure that’s why she decided to get me my own berner phone! i think it was supposed to be a surprise but i was listening closely to their conversation. after all, they were talking about the cabin and the cabin is my mostest favorite place on earth. it has long walks to take where i never have to be on a leash, a pond to swim in, cow and elk poo to eat, chipmunks to chase and maybe even a snow bank still left to slide on. gosh, so many things to do. now i can keep in touch with finn and molly super long distance! i am so excited it makes my hair stand on end!

*********************************

a little bit later on ...

i guess i was wrong. i am not getting my own phone after all. after mommy read this post she told me that they were talking about a ‘burner’ phone not a berner phone which i guess is one they can just buy a few minutes on and then throw away. she said their normal phones don’t work at the cabin and they need a different one. i am so disappointed! oh well. my paws are too big anyway for all those little numbers.
