Sculptures in Ice

I couldn’t stay home today knowing that the pond is finally freezing over. Tonight it might even snow, so I wanted to take a few more photos of strange ice formations before that happened.

Nature formed its own natural vases for these stalks, almost like blown glass.

Or, how about a new skirt?

I didn’t get a photo of it, but as I was taking photos of leaves entombed in ice a tiny muskrat swam by under the ice. It was awesome! At first I thought it was a fish going past, but then I saw a long rat-like tail! At least I think it must have been a muskrat… hmmm… ?

I was all alone except for this ruddy duck that watched me from his not-yet-frozen part of the pond.

Beautiful photos of God’s creation.  I never knew that New Jersey was so beautiful.  Always thought it was just a big city next to New York.  Thanks for sharing what you see in your neck of the woods.

Good morning Lynne, thanks for stopping by over at my place.

I love your photos of ice sculptures.  And it is really something how we so often blog about and photograph the same things on the same days.

Enjoy the winter days!

What beautiful pictures!  And an interesting blog, too.

Darn Lynne, I have been so busy I haven’t been able to visit. I can’t believe how good you are getting with that camera, you capture the detail of a moment perfectly, what an eye! That last picture of your tree I want to frame and hang…
I am so sorry about Bart….We are also thankful for each day with Shilo, I thought for sure he was a goner before Christmas but he rallied and now has good days and bad days…it is so hard when the end is in sight.

Thanks all!
Cat: I’ve always loved photography and mostly the small ‘macro lens’ sort of stuff. I was always taking pics of shells on the beach, or wildflowers. Ice is now my latest passion. Thanks…

Susan, thanks for stopping by and commenting!

firefly…as always…

Karen…welcome and I hope you check back soon!

what a find!!
