Wild Mushrooms

This gallery features photos of wild mushrooms. Most photos were taken by Lynne and me around our mountain cabin in Colorado. However, there is also a guest gallery for photos submitted to me by other people. You can view all photos starting on this page or select just photos only from one of the galleries below.

While I may occasionally comment on mushroom edibility, you should not identify nor try eating any mushroom based only on the information on this site. You should never try tasting or eating any wild mushroom without an experienced mycologist to help you identify it. Many edible mushrooms have poisonous or toxic "look alikes".

All photos except those submitted by guests are © Copyright 2004 -2011, Rick & Lynne Robinson. Please respect our copyright and contact us if you'd like to use any photo.

Morels

A photo of 4 nice-looking morels. I’d live to find some of these this Spring! Submitted by Bob Madill. The other mushroom looks to me like some kind of Agaricus, but it is really hard to tell.

A Huge "Giant Puffball" - Calvatia gigantea

This is the biggest mushroom I’ve seen at the cabin. It is a giant puffball, also called Calvatia Gigantea. It is edible and highly prized for its flavor when young. We decided not to eat this one because it is so interesting to look at.
