Saturday thoughts

I am now sitting pool side because its days are numbered. We know we only have one, maybe two more weekends left of pool enjoyment before we have to close it. The temperature is down to 77 degrees now, which Rick reassures me is at the low end of what the Olympic pool is allowed to be. I would rather the top end than the low end, but it is what it is.

As I lay on my float with the not-too-strong sun beating down on my body it feels good. Like my veins are filled with warmed jelly instead of blood. I feel incapable of lifting myself up from my supine position.

After looking at the bright sunlight, when I close my eyes the sun still dances in front of my closed eyelids like the flickering of an old film reel.

The strident voices of children drift over from our neighbor’s who are having a party.

The air show is in town today and once in a while they fly over our house in a burst of spectacular showmanship.

Later on ...

Tonight after swimming 30 lengths of the pool we built a fire in our little fire pit.

The seasons, they are a’changin’.

Comments:

Isn’t it odd how we get our first whiffs of fall in August? It seems too early! But I can sense the seasons moving toward change here too.

It got down into the 50s last night here and I actually closed the windows because I was afraid it would be TOO cool.  You still have some 80s in the forecast though toward the end of the week.  Have to say I am looking forward to turning off the AC.

The butterflies must be feeling the change in the air too.  I’ve got at least 20 Painted Ladies on my butterfly bush this afternoon.

C, is your bush still blooming? My is not very pretty this year and only a few visitors. Get that camera out!

Great plane photos - enjoy the last few weeks of summer.  You have a great looking pool area and so cosy with an open fire as the evenings begin to cool.

Yes, my bush is still blooming like crazy.  I’ve already taken so many ‘butterflies on the butterfly bush’ pictures and put them on the blog I’m thinking people are sick of them!  I did try to get many butterflies in one shot but haven’t looked at them yet.  The Painted Ladies are here again today.

C, I hope you used a deep depth of field for all those gorgeous butterflies! That’s a lot of butterflies on one bush!

Thanks Joyce. Poor you, you’ve not had much of a summer have you? The pool area is one of my favorite things about our house.
