I made a cheddar and added cheese color, four drops for a two-gallon batch, but there is no color.  What did I do wrong?

Depending upon the coloring used, I’ve found that the prescribed 4 to 5 drops won’t color the cheese much—it just gives it a tint. If you are wanting the same orange color you see in mass produced cheese, it will take a lot. I sometimes skip the coloring altogether. But, when I use it, I use about 8 or 9 drops to give the cheese a nice tint of orange.

Thanks.  I’ll try more next time.  I have a tendency to follow directions to the letter, perhaps to my detriment at times.
