PVC in a homemade cheese press

I’ve read where it is not good to use PVC as your form in a homemade cheese press, but David Frankhauser recommends just that on one of his pages. In the short time I’ve been educated myself on cheesemaking, I gather him to be one of the gurus for those just starting out, so I assume PVC is probably just fine, but I’m wondering if anyone has opinions otherwise, and why?

I really don’t know. Are there different grades of PVC? As long as it is PVC that is “food grade” or used to supply drinkable water, for example, I would think it should be okay.
