A new year dawns

Lynne Robinson, Hewitt, New Jersey
Finally we’ve seen the end of 2007. Done. Over with. Finis. I was not sorry to see the Year 2007 fade into the waning din of the fireworks our neighbors were setting off. It was not a good year for us. Too much sadness, upheaval, and grief.

Sorry I’ve been so boring lately, but really I’ve had nothing important to say. Day after day goes by without much consequence. Pretty pathetic, really, but at least it’s non-cataclysmic. All the words and thoughts I’ve had pent up inside me seemed to have dissipated over the holidays. ho hum. But I won’t sit here and apologize for my boring-at-the-moment life. I"ve got a New Year to look forward to. A fresh start.

I refuse to make any resolutions at the beginning of this year because I don’t keep them. Neither will I make lists of things I should do, because I won’t do them. Why make them only to break them? That’s just setting myself up for failure. Instead I will just look ahead with a positive attitude and hope things fall into place behind me. Like getting all my ducks in a row. How does that sound? Not quite like a resolution; more like forming my future by focusing in on what I want.

With that in mind I see the following things in my future:

Rick and I on a beach in Cancun two weeks from now, maybe exploring a few Mayan ruins, enjoying a well-deserved vacation.

Our house in Colorado selling very soon.

The kitchen and bath remodel on our house here in NJ finally happening.

Happiness.

There. That should about do it for now. My inner crystal ball can’t see any farther than the next several months.

If you’ve made resolutions for the New Year, here’s wishing you success! Let’s all embrace the light of the New Year 2008!

Well, glad the doggies are in the mood for a very boring 2008.  It’s my prayer and hope that we all have a calm and quite year.

oh look at that furry tummy!  aaaah

Those sound like good resolutions lynne (though i think you should add “meeting Lettuce in April”).  Wishing you much happiness this year.

PS you are not boring

PPS that second picture is wonderful, beautiful light

Both pics are so great! Did you see bluepoppy’s blog with her dog pics today?

Winter is a perfect time to have nothing much going on. We’re supposed to cocoon, go inwards and rest. You’re right in alignment with the season.

You know how I felt about 2007 - onwards, puh-lease!

I agree…winter is for hunkering down…I’m all for hibernation myself. smile

I love, love LOVE that pic of the sun shining in the snowy trees.  I can’t stop looking at it.

Susan R: yes, a calm and quiet year is just what we all need!

Letty: yes, Alex gave up his tummy and other parts to represent the end of 2007. At least
it wasn’t smelly ...
Best to you as well in the New Year and I certainly hope you include me on your April USA tour! xx

Reya, yes we totally agree on the grand exit of 2007. Glad you liked the pics. xx

Susan WA, glad you liked the snowy pic. It was early in the morning, just after sunrise and the sun was hitting the newly fallen snow just so ....
